The Uscanga Family
Our Story
My name is Gina, originally from Peru but residing in Miami FL. I’m currently battling with the most terrific illness called cancer. Sadly, I was diagnosed with a high-risk form of brain cancer called GLIOBLASTIMA MULTIFORM.
Being diagnosed with stage IV glioblastoma (GBM) 3 years ago changed everything and finding peace in this journey didn’t come easily. I used to work as a self-employment cook, however, after my brain tumor surgery, but I was not able to return to work. I lost my voice due to surgery and also lost strength in the right part of my body which was the most affected area and I'm unable to walk on my own.
Unfortunately, I’m not eligible to receive social security benefits or Medicare because I did not earn enough working credits to apply for those government benefits. I’m just receiving SNAP public assistance benefits, which I feel is not enough to cover the strict diet that I need to be on to have a healthy and balanced diet. That’s why I’m reaching out to you all to receive any support that will help me paying for my necessities such as rent, groceries, and insurance copays. Any support will be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless you all.
