Story
Noah is an incredible 10 year old with a diagnosis of Familial Mediterranean Fevers, Ehlers Donlos, Dysautonomia, and Myositis. I have been a fulltime caregiver to him since birth. Due to his medical conditions Noah has many therapies, appointments, and infusions. I have been providing his education at home due to his medical conditions and him being very susceptible to illness. As a single mom, everything has fallen on me to make sure that our household is cared for. I have 4 amazing children with me full time. All four children have medical needs. All 4 were born with Ehlers Donlos and 3 with FMF. Noah recently was diagnosed with Polymyositis. We are currently pleading with the insurance to approve a medication to help properly with treatment. It has been very hard to watch him struggle. We have been so blessed to have the most incredible medical team in Austin. We also have a doctor at Cincinatti Childrens Hospital that we travel to annually. Things have been incredibly difficult recently and I am concerned about how to continue taking care of the mortgage and the bills. I receive a small amount of child support from their father, but it is not enough and I am scared of how things will go. We have applied for SSDI for Noah with the support of his medical team. We have been told it can take almost 2 years for a response. Our state unfortunately does not also have many resources. I am trying my best to be a good mom, but my children make everything so much better, They are kind, loving, empathetic, and intelligent children. I would not know what to do without them. They think I am the strong one, while in truth, I only have the strength to do this because of them. Thank you so much for your consideration.
