    Injury/Illness
    Cancer

    This is Ellie.

She was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in June 2023. The reason we found out is that in March of 2023, she broke her collarbone. In May 2023, she was almost healed but noticed that she had, a lump right on her collarbone that was causing her pain. Once we explained this to her doctor she went through a variety of tests. That is when she was diagnosed with cancer.  She then started chemotherapy. She went into remission in August of 2023. Then she relapsed in October 2023. She then began chemotherapy again. During this time, we did consultation for egg preservation which was not an easy concept for a 14-year-old to think about. We did do egg preservation in November of 2023. Then in December of 2023, we did a stem cell bone marrow collection. She was not able to do a bone marrow transplant till she was cancer-free so then we continued treatment. In April of 2024, we did one of many Pet scans where they did say they thought it was gone. Then in May of 2024, she went into bone marrow transplant where we spent a month down at Riley Hospital. She has been doing better since the transplant. It was a rough road during that process but she was a trooper. We are now getting ready to go to Cincinnati for pinpoint radiation. They want to make sure this time that the cancer is gone. I as her mother have lost my job and continue to look for a job but have not been able to obtain employment at this time. Any help during this challenging time would greatly be appreciated.
