The Ruhland Family
Our Story
Hello my name is Rosa. I'm married to my wonderful husband Mark., and we have a 12yr old girl Athena, 9yr old boy Tyr, and a 5yr old girl Aurora. At about 19 weeks pregnant with my 4th child Freya, I found out she has Tetralogy of Fallot. We also knew she had a malformation in her brain, but no confirmed diagnosis at that time. At 29 weeks pregnant, I gave birth to her via emergency c-section due to pre-eclamspsia.
Freya thrived with medical support for the first two months in the nicu, which is when we found out she had Dandy-Walker malformation. She began having tets spells with her heart and was sent to CVCC and was incubated. While there, she got Rhinovirus, a hospital acquired bacterial infection in her picc line and pneumonia. She had open heart surgery at 3 months and we expect her to need more down the road.
Due to Freya's needs, I am not able to return to work at this time. It is also expected that Freya's continuing needs will prevent me from being able to work in the future. We live in Cambridge MN and Freya is at Children' s Hospital in Minneapolis (46 miles). This has taken a toll on our family financially and we are asking for donations to help during this difficult time.
Family Updates

Baby Freya is doing good. She is off oxygen, so she is breathing room air and is tolerating getting weaned off all of her medication. And is really starting to show her spunky self. She is also having her vp shunt put in her head on 3/10 to drain fluid to help with her dandy-walker malformation
