    Premature Birth

Kira and I are reaching out to share the story of our little fighter, Jamie. Our journey took an unexpected turn when Kira developed severe preeclampsia during her pregnancy, leading to a premature delivery three months ahead of schedule.

Kira's condition was critical, necessitating frequent hospital visits before she was finally admitted. She was placed on magnesium sulfate and confined to bed rest in the hospital for seven weeks. This period was incredibly challenging for her, as the medication made her feel very ill, and being restricted to bed was mentally and physically taxing.

The uncertainty of the situation was overwhelming. We both missed many days of work, struggling to balance our professional responsibilities with Kira's health crisis. Our primary focus was on ensuring that our little Jameson could stay in the womb for as long as possible to give him the best chance of survival.

However, a few days later, Kira's condition worsened significantly. Fearing the onset of HELLP syndrome, the doctors decided to perform an emergency C-section to deliver baby Jamie. He was born weighing just 1 pound 10 ounces, incredibly small and fragile.

On his second day of life, Jamie experienced a pulmonary hemorrhage, requiring life-saving interventions. He remained on a ventilator for an extended period, facing numerous setbacks. Jamie continues to fight bravely every day, battling brain bleeds, fluctuating glucose levels, a single functioning kidney, and elevated liver enzymes.

After finally being taken off all ventilators, Jamie was moved from the critical part of the NICU to the children's hospital. Unfortunately, he had to be transferred back to the critical unit due to worsening breathing and increased oxygen requirements. Our resilient little Jamie continues to fight, and we are by his side every day.

This journey has taken a significant financial toll on us. Due to Jamie's medical conditions and his need for continuous oxygen support, I will be staying home to care for him. This means a loss of income, as daycare is not an option given his fragile lungs and the likely development of asthma.

We share this story not only to update you but also to express our gratitude for any support and understanding during this challenging time. Jamie's fight is far from over, but with your support, we remain hopeful and determined to give him the best possible care and a bright future.

Thank you for being part of our journey.

    Sincerely, Jaden and Kira Roby
