Hi my name is Kayla and my son Lucian was born with esophageal attesia type c long gap and down syndrome. He spent months in the nicu as a baby had multiple surgeries and esophageal.dilations. He did very well for a long time. In 2015 we had a g tube converted to a g.j tube because of weight loss and gastroparesis and other medical complexities. After this he did well for quite awhile. Then we started having medical compexities again. We went from state to state for help with no real answers or help. Fast forwarding we ended up in Ohio for g.i care and they are great. Then fast forwarding to more recently Lucian has been admitted into Cincinnati Childrens hospital since November 18th 2024. We had a 3 small surgeries. One of them was to put in a central line for tpn. He was supposed to have a much larger surgery but he then developed very large deep vein thrombosis and it had to be canceled and is now on blood thinners. We had another picc line placed in the other arm. He just had the surgery we have been waiting so long for December 16th 2024. We have an absolutely amazing surgeon and we are so blessed to have her. However after this surgery he then developed additional complications. We are now transferred to the icu for respiratory distress and other complications.
There is no end in site for us. I have not been able to work for several months now and even when we eventually get out I'm not going to be able to immediately return to work. We are in great need of help to cover uncovered medical expenses, house hold bills traveling,food,gas lodging, my car payment and car insurance, medicines, and any other things we encounter. We would be so greatful for any help we can get. This has been such a long jourmey being 400 miles away from any family, friends and support systems we have had in place. Spending Thanksgiving, lucians birthday,christmas Eve and Day in the hospital is a hard one to swallow. It's also very hard on my other children at home. So if you can please help us on the journey we are on right now in life we would be so greatful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
