My name is Hayson Hettich. I am a twin to my brother Hadlee Hettich. My parents found out they were pregnant with my twin and I shortly after they lost my older brother Hayden, due to a choking accident. My parents were not expecting to receive the news of twins at their first ultrasound but God & Hayden had other plans for our family. I am a Mono/Di twin which increased a higher pregnancy risk for my mom to carry us. She had to go to appointments every other week to make sure we were growing safely. Around 23 weeks, my mom found out she had a hemangnomia growing on her liver which led to her having to have a c-section instead of a natural birth. Thankfully, my mom made it to 35 weeks with us but we decided to make her contract 5 days before her scheduled c-section making my brother and I preemies.

My brother and I had to be in the NICU but by the grace of God and Hayden, we only had to stay 5 days to watch our oxygen levels, regulate our body temperatures and gain some weight. I’m thankful to have had a short time in the NICU but my parents don’t receive paternity/maternity leave so they are taking FMLA to stay home and care for Hadlee and I. My mom is expected to use all her sick leave in order to be paid which will run out at the end of February. My dad doesn’t have much sick leave due to taking time off last March when my brother Hayden passed away. Thank you for reading,  anything helps our family 🤍
