Our Story
Bailee developed a cough, and within less than 12 hours her breathing had declined. She was taken to children's hospital were she was admitted with a pulse ox in the low 80's and a CO2 Level in the 70-80's. She then coded, had swelling and fluid on her brain, the doctors are watching for long term and short term brain damage and diagnosed with type 1 flu, newly onset diabetes and bronchospasm. Bailees right lung collapsed and filled with fluid. She was put on a ventilator and given a chest tube. She spent almost two weeks in the PICU under paralyzing sedation. After two weeks she was moved to a isolation room and quarantined. There they found her lungs were continuing to fill with fluid and given a second chest tube. Bailee has very limited use of her left arm and leg. Bailee with need PT & OT and and will need to change her entire food i take for the rest of her life. She will be receiving OT and PT for the foreseeable future, her father and I are not sure when or if she will be able to return to school.
