The Tyner Family
Our Story
My son Jameson is 7 years old and is a nonverbal autistic angel. He is the sweetest boy in the whole world but unfortunately, has encountered a bullying at daycare. On my way to pick him up, I received a call from his daycare to let me know Jameson fell and won’t get up. They thought he scraped his knee because he kept asking for a band aid, but wouldn't let them touch him (he asks for a band aid whenever something hurts, even if it’s not bleeding). I asked if he hit his head, they said no. I told them I was pulling up and will see them in a second.
They met me at the door and frantically tried to explain what happened. I get outside and he was laying in the wood chips on the playground by himself in the cold without a jacket. He was shivering, crying, face was purple, pupils enlarged, and couldn’t stop screaming. When I got him to calm down, he was able to tell me it was his leg. I touched the left one and he didn’t react, but when I touched the right one he lost it. Because he was in a weird position on the ground and wouldn’t let me move him I called 911. His teacher said an older student shoved him when he wouldn’t share a ball he was playing with, and he fell on the corner of the curb. She said and heard a crack, event though I was told earlier he 'scraped his knee'.
We went to HonorHealth then got transferred to PCH, where we spent a week there due to the shortage on surgeons. Jameson had a spiral fracture on the tibia (bone is partially separated towards the bottom of the spiral and is missing bone) and a hairline fracture on the fibula. He needs a wheelchair, walker, bedside camote and shower bench. He can only do small distances, and cannot go to school until further notice. I am waiting on respite through DDD to help me with his care but it could take months. I am just attempting to not drown while I care for him and am on FMLA from work. I was denied short term disability. I lost food stamps this month and driving to the food bank with him is difficult.
