The Norheim Family
Our Story
On December 10th, after a long hospital stay for mama due to a chronic placental abruption, our sweet son, Hartley Wilde was born via emergency c-section. He weighed just 4 lb 4 oz and had only reached 33 weeks and 5 days gestation, making him about 7 weeks premature.
We are so grateful to know he’s under excellent care in the NICU here at Sanford in Bismarck, but Chris has very limited paternity leave and bills are starting to pile up. We are humbly asking for help so that we can spend time together as a family during and after Hartley’s NICU stay, as we are a single income family. Any help at all is so greatly appreciated!
With love, The Norheims
Family Updates

We are absolutely blown away by the response to everyone sharing and donating! From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! Whether you contributed or shared our story, our family appreciates your support so much.
Hartley is over all doing well! We had a bit of a tough day with trouble keeping milk down, and overnight an episode of apnea that sent mama flying out of bed when the alarms went off in the NICU. The nurses there are great at reassuring us when things like this are expected for Hartley’s gestation age, but it’s new to us still and scary.
We continue to work on his oral feeding skills. He wants to nurse but tires himself out pretty quickly. He did graduate to having the top open on his isolette, which means we get to be much more hands on with him! It’s been a good thing for all of us including Adler, who is so interested in being involved in his care.
Thank you all again, and we will continue to keep you updated throughout Hartley’s NICU stay.
with Love,
the Norheims

Hello all!
Hartley is impressing his doctors with his progress. He’s almost back to his birthweight, which is fantastic! He also had his nasal cannula removed (for oxygen.) He does rely on an NG tube for the majority of his feedings this time, but has begun to do some breast/bottle feeds as well. He’s a spunky little guy, and his nursing staff really seem to adore him… so do we, of course!
that said, it is incredibly hard to walk out of the NICU at any time, especially around the holidays. We feel the pull of our sweet 3 year old, Adler, at home. He is allowed to come visit at this time, but the poor guy is really getting sick of hanging out at the hospital. So, we divide our time, and in the process, our hearts. No matter where we are, something feels missing, except those short hours we are all in one place here at the NICU.
thank you for all keeping us in your thoughts during this rollercoaster of a journey. We will keep you all updated!
Love, Ali and Chris
