The Phinney Family
Our Story
My Son Zachary is an amazing 19 year old young man that has fought his whole life to live. He was born in kidney failure.. He had his first kidney transplant when he was just 11 months old. He unfortunately lost his first transplant and ended up on hemodialysis. He received a second kidney transplant when he was just eight years old. We were involved in the kidney paired exchange involving six of us. I donated my kidney to a complete stranger, so Zach could receive another chance at life. Zachary is now 19 years old and has endured x2 kidney transplants, multiple hospital stays, and countless procedures and surgeries. This last hospital stay was 14 days inpatient with no real answers. Zachary had a biopsies of the bone marrow, spinal fluid, and stomach lining to rule out PTLD, Because Zachary’s body depleted his immune system causing him to have an ANC of 0. So, his body was unable to fight any illness. Praise the Lord all came back negative.. Zachary has frequent lab visits and lots of follow ups to monitor him closely. I have been Zachary’s main caregiver his whole life and unable to work. Fortunately, I’ve been able to be a paid parent through the state. Which is my only income. But, have has loss of income when he’s in patient. Which has been very stressful Zachs whole life. We would be very grateful for any assistance with our mortgage to keep us on our feet..
