Our Story
I’m a former heavy equipment operator and I was redoing the floors into my home and I stepped onto screws. It went through my shoe into my foot for four hours. Then the screws were going in and out of my foot and I didn’t know it because I found out that I had neuropathy and I’m diabetic that’s uncontrolled and untreated. This happened at the end of August I lost my job then the hurricane came cause damage, I lost my car. I applied for public assistance and got $23 a month for food and utilities are behind my foots badly infected in the hospitals don’t do anything they tell me to go home and take Motrin. I lost my health coverage for my insurance and I filed for disability in February of this year on the 10th and I’m fighting with the government to try to get medical insurance through the medical program I can and have not been able to put a shoe on my foot since this happened in August and I’m still not able to get a shoe on my foot, and the pain is ungodly. It’s badly infected, and I can hardly walk.
