The Piccirello Family
Our Story
Hi there!
First of all, thank you so much for helping everyone you do. It makes a huge difference. My family has been impacted a lot more than I'd like from my current situation, and organizations like yours give people like me hope.
In march of 2021, I went to bed feeling as healthy as ever, but the next morning, I woke up in an MRI machine with no recollection of how I got there. After falling back asleep, assuming it was a dream, I woke up in the ER to a doctor Telling me I have a brain tumor, which caused me to have a seizure in my sleep. They rushed me off to Barrow Neurological Institute for surgery.
After surgery, I wasn't able to read or write for almost 2 months. The tumor was in my parietal lobe, so the surgery affected my peripheral vision in a way that made it seem as if my eyes were always looking through a kaleidoscope. Even after my sight became manageable, staring at a screen was not an option for more than a few minutes a day (which really hinders my ability to provide for my family as a mortgage broker).
My diagnosis is that I have a grade 3 oligodendroglioma, which is a fancy way of saying high grade brain cancer. I finished 7 weeks of chemo and radiation, plus an additional 6 cycles of chemo. I still have 6 more rounds to go before I get a break from that. The reason I'm hoping for assistance is because I've now drained my savings account after 9 months of this. I have 2 beautiful daughters and an amazing wife to support, and my condition isn't allowing me to spend enough time working to overcome the market conditions in my life of work. I'd love to look for other types of work, but the chemo has taken a toll on my energy levels as well. On top of all that, I didn't have insurance when all this happened, so I have $250,000 worth of medical debt collectors calling daily trying to collect payment...
Your help would be so greatly appreciated to help us get through a tough time. I don't see where to upload my documents, but I can absolutely provide documentation of my disease. Thank you so much for your time. I hope to hear from you soon!
