Our Story: Our baby boy was diagnosed with severe IGUR at 32 weeks. We were admitted to the hospital that same day. After two days of steroid injections and trying to safely stay pregnant our medical team decided it was time to bring our son into the world two months early. Thankfully the medical team was able to get our son and I through surgery. But in the days after his birth I experienced some life threating complications and was admitted in the hospital for nearly two weeks.Needless to say, this experience has caused major emotional highs and lows, and along with that some financial difficulties as well. I have been working part-time to maintain our family’s insurance but it’s growing harder to balance both my job and giving our two children the attention they deserve. My husband works in sales and is heavily commissioned-based, and he is also doing the best he can, but it’s becoming more and more problematic to secure the income needed to make ends meet.

Beginning to add up

Whoa boy. Elliot is 3 months old now... we can hardly believe it. He is continuing to grow big and strong as each day passes but what we are realizing quickly is that our pocket book is rather week. With the numerous doctors visits and special formula we are really beginning to see our savings steadily decrease which makes us very nervous. We are so grateful for organizations such as Spare Key who are here to help families like ours.

Happy at Home

3 weeks.... hard to believe that it has been three weeks that we have been home with Elliot. The nights are long and the bags under our eyes are large but I would not change it for the world. Our days since being discharged from the NICU are full of cuddles and running to and from medical appointments to monitor our sweet boy's growth. While we have been enjoying the time as a family of four we now are beginning to tally up the large medical bills that came with this new status.
